THE MAKING OF LIQUID DETERGENT


Liquid Detergent: is a detergent in a concentrated liquid form. This detergent is made from different chemicals combined together to form the liquid wash which differs from soap. This detergent is used for either industrial or domestic purposes: Such as washing of dishes, cloths cars, floor etc.

EQUIPMENT NEEDED

  1.  2 containers (drums or any): one for mixing Antisol, another for collective mixture
  2. Stirrer: for turning the chemicals.
  3. Weighing Balance: for measuring the quantity of chemicals in (kg)
  4.  Litmus paper (yellow): for testing acidity or concentration of the solution.
  5. Hand gloves: Protects from peeling your skin.


CHEMICALS/INGREDIENTS
a.     Soda Ash or potassium hydroxide: serves as a cleansing power of the detergent.
b.     Sulphuric Acid: it makes liquid foam and also serves as a cleansing power of the detergent
c.      Antisol: it added texture to the solution (i.e. thicken the solution)
d.     Luaryl (if any): balances the concentration
e.      Preservative: it makes the detergent last long inside bottle.
f.       Colour (green or any) to modify the appearance of the liquid
g.     Fragrance (Ambipur, Lemon etc.) it makes the detergent to scent well

METHOD OF PREPARATION
step 1 fill a container with a known quantity of water and measure Antisol and soak in that water, stir it continually for like 3 times daily for 2 days or more for proper fermentation

Step2  

  1. Fill another container with a measured litre of water, measure soda Ash in (kg) and pour in that water, stir it for 5 mins. allow for like 1 hour after that 
  2. Add a measured litre of sulphonic Acid in the solution, mix it well for 10 mins., leave it for a moment then test the level of concentration with litmus paper, after cover it to avoid contamination till next the day.

Step3 Add a solution of Antisol in the mixture of Soda Ash and Sulphonic Acid and mix it gradually for like 3 times daily for 2 days, make sure that everything dissolved.

Step 4 Add Preservative, Colour and Fragrance (Ambipur, Lemon etc.), mix it for 3 mins. and allow bubbles to settle for some time.

Step 5 When there is no bubble anymore, put the liquid detergent in a clean bottle. You can use the detergent after 1 hour or more.
