DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF AUTOMATIC FLUID LEVEL DETECTOR
ABSTRACT
Over the years people have been climbing overhead tanks and using dipsticks to detect the level of fluid in tanks. This is usually difficult and time wasting. This project is the design and construction of a device which can indicate the indicators; indicating when the fluid is at the upper, middle and lower levels of the tank. It is recommended that an alarm system should be incorporated in the next design.

CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
Over the years people use dipsticks for underground tanks and climb over head tanks to check the level of liquid in them. These systems are usually very stressful and may not be accurate. In the technology societies of today, only a very few number of people do not use electronic equipments in one way or the other. Most electronic devices such as electric iron, radio, receiver, electric fire system (for heating room during cold weather) are used in homes and factories.
Today the need to determine the level of fluid in the tank, car radiator arises frequently in many homes and industries. In Nigeria, where most people are still using surface tanks and reservoirs for storing fluids, it is very important to know the level of the fluid inside these containers.
However, an automatic liquid level detecting device is introduced to being a stop to wastage of liquids. The components used for this construction are available and affordable which makes it more advantageous and easy to own.
1.1 BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
This project work is the design and construction of automatic fluid detector. The use of fluid level detectors today makes it easier for the surface tank use in house hold, factories or fuel deports to ascertain, the level of the fluid that remains inside the tanks, without the need for climbing up to the tank or use dipsticks to ascertain the level of the fluid. Also, car drivers may know the level of the fluid in their cars’ radiators when it falls below a certain threshold level.
1.2 THE OBJECTIVE OF THE STUDY
The aim and objective of the project is to design and construct an automatic fluid level detector that will give; an easy knowledge of the liquid remaining in the tank or reservoir.
1.3 SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
The significant of this project is to produce an easy way of detecting the level of fluid in an underground or over head tanks without climbing or using dipsticks to ascertain the level of the fluid remaining in the tank.
1.4 SCOPE OF THE STUDY
The project is designed to be used on surface tanks, car radiators and reservoirs or similar fluid containers.
This project work is the use of light emitting diodes (LED) system. The work involve the design and construction of automatic fluid level detector through light emitting diode to be used domestically in homes and industrially for over head and underground tanks.
